Traveling in Slovakia: route, stops, impressions

Slovakia is one of the most underrated tourist destinations in Europe. This country, located in the heart of the continent, offers visitors a plethora of opportunities for relaxation and entertainment. I decided to embark on a journey through Slovakia and share my itinerary, stops, and impressions.

Day 1: Bratislava

My journey started in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. The city is only 60 km away from Vienna, making it an ideal destination for a short trip. I spent the day strolling through the historic city center, which is adorned with beautiful baroque buildings. Some of Bratislava's most famous landmarks include the Old Town, Bratislava Castle, and St. Martin's Cathedral.

Day 2: Levoca

On the second day, I headed to the city of Levoca, located in the east of the country. This city, situated on the slopes of the mountains, is known for its cultural and historical value. In Levoca, you will find many medieval buildings and narrow streets. The most famous attraction in Levoca is the Bishop's Palace, which was built in the 13th century.

Day 3: Zilina

On the third day, I traveled to the city of Zilina, located in the north of Slovakia. This city was founded in the 12th century and has a rich history and cultural heritage. In Zilina, it's worth visiting the Old Town, which is adorned with baroque and Renaissance-style buildings. Additionally, the city is known for its traditional markets where you can buy local cheeses, sausages, and other delicacies.

Day 4: Tatra Mountains

On the fourth day, I headed to the Tatra Mountains, located in the north of the country. This national park covers an area of ​​over 700 km² and includes mountains, lakes, and waterfalls. I chose to visit Velky Cherny stit, which is one of the highest peaks in the Tatras. From the top of the mountain, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes.

Day 5: Banska Bystrica

On the fifth day, I traveled to Banska Bystrica, a city located in the center of Slovakia. This city is one of the most historic cities in the country, so it's worth visiting local museums and galleries to learn more about the city's history. Additionally, you should visit the local castle and park to enjoy nature.

Day 6: Kosice

On the last day of my trip, I traveled to the city of Kosice, located in the east of Slovakia. This city is one of the largest and most developed cities in the country. In Kosice, you will find many historical and cultural landmarks, including St. Elizabeth Cathedral and the East Slovak Museum.
